LOS ANGELES (Sharewellnewswire.com) August 20, 2012 – The 4th Annual Burbank International Film Festival (BIFF), scheduled for September 5th- 9th, is just around the corner. The film festival consists of five days of film Screenings, Red Carpet Events and Awards. The festival will kick off the Opening Night with an advanced screening of the film “CinemAbility”; a documentary examining the ever- changing portrayals of disability story lines in film, television, and advertising from the silent era to today.
The film is directed by Jenni Gold (DGA) and features Ben Affleck, Jamie Foxx, Gary Sinise, William H. Macy, Marlee Matlin, RJ Mitte, Beau Bridges, Kyle MacLachlan and Gary Marshall and to name a few. Following the film screening will be an Opening Night Gala hosted by RJ Mitte from the Emmy and SAG nominated hit AMC television series “Breaking Bad”. The festival will conclude with the Closing Night Gala Awards Show hosted by NBC weathercaster and comedian, Fritz Coleman at the Castaways in Burbank.
Celebrating its 4th year, the festival is once again excited to partner with Woodbury University, and be able to use their state-of-the-art auditorium as an additional screening venue. Award-winning filmmaker and actor Jeff Rector is the new President and Festival Director, Rector says, “We want to screen as many independent films as possible and help get the filmmakers get some exposure . It’s also an amazing opportunity to make the Burbank International Film Festival into a world class festival like Sundance, Cannes and the Toronto Film Festival after all, Burbank is the home to Warner Brothers, Disney, Universal, NBC and ABC”.
In addition to the festival filmmakers awards, several Industry Honorees will receive special recognition. These include, Robert “Bobby” Moresco 2- time Oscar winning screenwriter (“Million Dollar Baby”, “Crash”), multi-award wining composer Marc Isham (“Once Upon A Time”), Annie award winning animation director, Jennifer Yuh Nelson (“Kung Fu Panda 2”), Academy Award-winning specialeffects make-up artist Rick Baker, award winning actor James Hong (“Kung Fu Panda 2”, “Chinatown”), and Mary Shuttleworth, founder and president for Youth for Human Rights International, will be receiving this year’s “Awareness Award”.
