AID STILL REQUIRED, LOVA TEA, and VARIETY MAGAZINE are throwing a party:‘THE BIG EASY JUKE JOINT’

Husband and wife team, Hunter and Andrea Herz Payne, founders Santa Monica-based non-profit AID STILL REQUIRED, have many causes - but one at the moment is turning their sights to the South...because New Orleans Still Requires Aid.

Los Angeles, CA (Sharewellnewswire) July 31, 2012 -  They’re at it again; husband and wife team, Hunter and Andrea Herz Payne, founders Santa Monica-based non-profit AID STILL REQUIRED, have many causes - but one at the moment is turning their sights to the South. The Paynes, along with their high profile/celebrity supporters, are focusing on New Orleans this summer. Along with LOVA Tea, media partner VARIETY Magazine, and a host committee including Maroon 5, Randy Newman, Tim McGraw, Chris Noth and Alcon Entertainment, they are hosting the BIG EASY JUKE JOINT at Bugatta Restaurant on August 22nd.

It’s been seven years since Hurricane Katrina ravaged The Big Easy, and while most adjacent areas have made strides towards recovery, the Lower Ninth Ward remains mostly a flat, grassy wasteland. Before Katrina the Lower Ninth was an area chock full of vibrant neighborhoods. Despite being largely forsaken, there are glimmers of hope shining - people who are committed to rebuilding, including the children of the Dr King Charter School who tend to The Garden of Eatin’, a symbol of hope and growth.

“AID STILL REQUIRED’s mission is to come in as the second responders, helping folks find effective, lasting ways to rehabilitate their lives and land,” says Ms. Herz Payne. “That’s the inspiration for the BIG EASY JUKE JOINT – bringing awareness to the present need and raising funds to expand and develop this great program at the Dr King School, all while giving Juke Joint attendees a taste of the fabulous culture of New Orleans.”

Stephanie Cence, co-founder of LOVA Tea, added, "Knowing I can assist in improving the lives of those living in forgotten areas of devastation inspired me to get involved with AID STILL REQUIRED. I hope this fundraiser encourages others to help those who are still in desperate need!"

The BIG EASY JUKE JOINT will not be your typical Hollywood cocktail fundraiser. As Bugatta transforms into a magical southern style speakeasy, the gala will feature all the sultry, down home essence that gives New Orleans its well-deserved reputation.
