Canadian heart-throb Justin Beiber is at number two position in Forbes annual list of young celebrities with an yearly haul of $55 million. Maybe he can use some of that money to placate some of his ardent fans who are suing the singer for the din created at his music concerts, which led to some serious organ damages.
Stacey Wilson Betts is suing the 'My World' hitmaker for $9.23 million alleging that the noise created by the concert crowd caused irreversible damages to her hearing ability. Betts and her daughter were at Bieber's concert in Portland, Oregon in July, 2010, when she was hit by a “sound blast”. The incredibly loud noise was further aggravated by the star climbing into a ''heart-shaped aluminum/steel gondola'' that was swinging above the head of the crowd.
Atop the gondola, the singer repeatedly pointed at the audience, which drove the fans into a corybantic frenzy. The lawsuit alleges that the gondola acted as a ''sound conductor creating a sound blast that permanently damaged both of the plaintiff's ears.'' As a result she developed tinnitus, a condition in which there is the perception of sound within the human ear in the absence of corresponding external sound (ringing sensation).
Along with Bieber the promoters of the concert as well as the arena is also being sued.
