Sales of Mercedes-Benz luxury cars in June grew at the slowest
monthly rate till date this year mainly because sales in the strategic
market of China continued to be sluggish. Daimler said there was a rise
of 0.9 percent in the volumes of its premium brand in June, which meant
that there was a cumulative rise of 6.9 percent in the first half to
652,924 vehicles, which was a record high.
On Wednesday, Mercedes sales chief, Joachim Schmidt, said in a
statement that the company expects that the launch of its new A-Class in
particular over the next few months will further boost its sales. He
added that this will mean that the company is on track this year to
overtaking the sales record achieved in 2011.
